Photography - Tuesday

Group Leader Cyril Fox          c.fox@btinternet.com

Location Newton & Wallacetown Church Halls (small hall)

Tuesday 5th September to 12th December 2017

10.00 am - 12.00 pm

This group was established seven years ago in response to a growing interest in digital photography.  From the start we met in Loudoun Hall in Boat Vennel, built in 1513 the oldest building in Ayr and an interesting  venue,  but full of stairs which were a challenge to some of our members so we moved to Prestwick Community centre.

While meetings continued in Prestwick we discovered the recently refurbished halls at Newton Wallacetown Church and decided to move again in September 2016. The room we use is warm and welcoming and ideal for our informal meetings where social interaction over coffee and biscuits is as important as our photography.

Members use a variety of different cameras including Rangefinders, DSLR’s, Bridge, Compact and even film!  Our aim is that photography should be challenging, fun and a learning experience for all.  Our weekly meetings include visiting speakers, presentations created by group members, themed pictures of the month and workshops designed to improve our photographic skills.

Trips and visits to local and distant photogenic locations are also a feature of our busy programme. Our day trips have included visits to the Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery in Eskdalemuir, New Lanark, 12th Century Stirling Castle, The 17th Century Royal Burgh of Culross, the Harbour Town of Kirkcudbright on the Solway coast, South Queensferry ,  the University Town of St.Andrews in the Kingdom of Fife and Caerlaverock Castle the unique triangular 17th Century residence near Dumfries. Members and friends of the OiR are welcomed on our day trips and booking information is included in the OiR Newsletter and this website.

The Tuesday Photography Group meets in Wallacetown Church Halls (small hall) every Tuesday at 10.00am until mid-day from September to April.  Enquiries from new members are always welcome subject to available space.

Our photography is sociable and fun!
