The AGE SCOTLAND AWARDS CEREMONY took place on 16th March 2016 in Perth.  The Age Scotland Awards celebrate the groups and individuals that have made a significant contribution to the lives of older people in Scotland.

Of the six different award categories, Amy Kinnaird, one of our Executive Committee members and past Chair, entered OiR Ayr in the 'Member Group of the Year' category.  She gathered and provided evidence on why she thought our 'not for profit' organisation warranted such recognition.  Her detailed information, coupled with two members stories of how OiR had made a big difference to their life, was submitted.

On Christmas Eve 2015 Amy Kinnaird was informed by AGE SCOTLAND that the Member Group of the Year category was the one which received the most nominations for 2016 and that competition had been fierce. However, even with such strong rivalry, we are delighted to have received a SPECIAL COMMENDATION from Age Scotland, in recognition of the work our organisation does to combat loneliness and isolation in Scotland's older people.

We're also proud that in 2008, we won Member Group of the Year category and received a £1000 cheque and a plaque, which is still on display in the OiR office.
