Our organisation must be for you if you are 50 or over, and prefer to keep active and/or make new friends.  In brief, you should know this about us.
OiR Ayr exists to encourage and facilitate interesting, motivating and appealing activities for our membership, which is drawn from Ayr and beyond.
It was founded in 1985 and is a charitable organisation for people over 50.
Groups are run by volunteers and we encourage members to get involved to keep costs low.
Group activities cover a wide range - find out more on our Group Activities page.  Some activities have more than one choice, possibly allowing further development as you progress.  We think the phrase ‘spoilt for choice’ was made for us, and we know we’re very fortunate.
We encourage members to submit ideas, including proposals for a new group activity.  Your proposal will be tabled at the first committee meeting after it's received and if approved, and a suitable venue/group leader can be found, the activity may run as soon as feasible thereafter.  Group normally require 10 or more members to run, but depending on the activity, can run with fewer members.
Try us for free.  You are welcome to try an activity twice before joining (space permitting);  there is then is a small charge for each class you attend.
We rely on the goodwill of local businesses to offer shopping discounts to our members. We are so grateful that various outlets have come on board and a list of those offering a discount, is printed in the quarterly members newsletters.  It is subject to change.
Membership to OiR is just £18 per year which commences in January.  Please visit the OiRAyr office, complete the registration process and pay your yearly membership fee (which has yet again been held at £18 for session 2017-2018).  You will be issued with a membership card, which must be presented when joining a group, or when purchasing goods or services from a local business.  You will also be given the latest newsletter which contains group news, other information, detailed group activity information and a list of our exclusive discounts.

If you need further information or clarification on any of the above points, please contact office@oirayr.org.uk or phone the office on 01292 260086.  Find us on Facebook

Executive Committee and Members

Committee members are essential to the continuity of our organisation. They serve for two-years and, if happy to do so, for as long as they desire.  The committee always benefits from a diverse selection of members.  If you are an OiRAyr member and feel you have something to offer, please consider joining. Contact the office in the first instance to find out if vacancies currently exist 01292 260086.

From time-to-time, the committee aims to draw special attention to positions that require to be filled urgently.   These vacancies would arise as a result of members completing their term of office.
